The second largest city on the seaside, Mangalia is situated 40km South from Constanta and 14km North from the Bulgarian border. It is a permanent balneary and climatic resort, as old as Constanta (over 2000 years since its historical attestation), benefiting from a climate resembing the Mediterranean one, with the highest yearly temperature averages in the country. The balneary treatment is practiced during the whole year, combining specific marine agents with the mineral-water springs discovered here and exploited from the time of the Romans. We can mention among the interesting touristic attractions one of the oldest mosques in Romania (1590); the Archeology Museum, which houses a few exhibits discovered in the area; the “Mercurius” pipes and curiosities collection, as well as the ruins of the fortress of Calatis. Those who haven’t visited Mangalia during the past few years should know that the resort’s image has positively changed, becoming an attractive holiday destination thanks to the following advantages: a clean and interesting town, reasonable prices for touristic services, reasonable lodging prices, closeness to the southern resorts (on 7km between Mangalia and Neptun lie the other resorts: Saturn,Venus, Jupiter, Cap Aurora, Neptun and Olimp, while 2 Mai and Vama Veche are located 2km and 5 km South); acknowledged summer events such as “The Days of Mangalia” and The Day of the Navy.
